I first wrote this poem as an assignment for my creative writing class in high school. I still remember the moment—it came to me during a really difficult time in my senior year. Life felt overwhelming with college applications, grades, and all the extracurriculars I was juggling.
At the same time, that creative writing class gave me a space to express my love for writing and storytelling. I was so passionate and excited about the things I wanted to create, yet I was also weighed down by stress and frustration. One morning, as I walked slowly across my kitchen floor—One, two. One, two. stop—I found myself thinking about the mix of passion and anger swirling inside me. That rhythm, that feeling, became the spark for this poem.
